{"id":398,"date":"2025-01-29T09:58:47","date_gmt":"2025-01-29T09:58:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staff.nhslothian.scot\/cet\/bladder-scanning\/"},"modified":"2025-02-05T15:15:29","modified_gmt":"2025-02-05T15:15:29","slug":"bladder-scanning","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/staff.nhslothian.scot\/cet\/registered-nurses-odp\/rn-clinical-skills\/bladder-scanning\/","title":{"rendered":"Bladder Scanning"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This course is a virtual training course which requires completion of clinical work based competencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Staff will be required to:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>complete a pre-course quiz prior to undertaking the training.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>identify a Registered Nurse mentor who has completed bladder scanning training and is competent in use of the model of bladder scanner used in their ward\/ department to enable them to meet course competency requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Intended Audience<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This study day is for NHS Lothian Registered Nurses and Healthcare Support Workers, Band 3 and above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learning Outcomes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This course provides information on various models of portable bladder scanners used in NHS Lothian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Knowledge of acute and chronic incomplete bladder emptying, symptoms, causes and contributory factors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge of indications for performing a bladder scan<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge of what can give false readings and measures to be taken to avoid this happening.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge of how to use bladder scanner in order to obtain an accurate measurement of post void residual urine volume.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information please contact: <a href=\"mailto:loth.clinicalskillstraining@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk\">loth.clinicalskillstraining@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This course is a virtual training course which requires completion of clinical work based competencies.
