Staff will receive online pre-reading and resources prior to the practical workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The learning outcomes are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Identify professional and legal issues in relation to catheterisation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Describe the anatomy and physiology and associated challenges for catheterisation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discuss alternative options to managing continence in patients.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explain your rationale for deciding to catheterise and select an appropriate catheter and drainage, fixation system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explain the purpose of the CAUTI bundle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discuss the complications of catheterisation and subsequent management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The practical workshop includes insertion and care of catheterisation models under the direct supervision of faculty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Intended Audience<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This course is for NHS Lothian Registered Nurses, Operating Department Practitioners and Band 4 Assistant Practitioners who have local governance arrangements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information contact <a href=\"mailto:loth.clinicalskillstraining@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk\">loth.clinicalskillstraining@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A blended approach will be used to cover all aspects of Catheterisation.
