This course will look at the aetiology of cancer, as well as cancer treatments and interventions.<br>This is aimed at staff with an interest in cancer care and staff who are new to the Edinburgh Cancer Centre or new to treating patients with cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The learning outcomes for the course are as follows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By the end of the course, you will be able to-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Describe the holistic needs of a patient with cancer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understand the development and risk factors for cancer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have a working knowledge of the cancer treatments available to patients<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Know where to signpost patients to for support, including for family and friends<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understand the role of the MDT in supporting patients with cancer diagnoses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There is no assessment for this course, but it is a good foundation for any staff member working with cancer patients, regardless of the service area working in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information contact\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:loth.clinicalskillstraining@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk\">loth.clinicalskillstraining@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An introduction to the patient&rsquo;s journey through having cancer.
