{"id":939,"date":"2025-06-23T16:41:25","date_gmt":"2025-06-23T15:41:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staff.nhslothian.scot\/cet\/?page_id=939"},"modified":"2025-06-23T16:43:19","modified_gmt":"2025-06-23T15:43:19","slug":"preceptorship","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/staff.nhslothian.scot\/cet\/preceptorship\/","title":{"rendered":"Preceptorship"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Preceptorship: support as you transition into a new role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nursing and midwifery staff who are new to role in NHS Lothian can expect a period of preceptorship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/learn.nes.nhs.scot\/42350\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Preceptorship<\/a> embraces the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/workforce.nhs.scot\/about\/principles-and-values\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">values of NHS Scotland,\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0and provides a safe, supportive, and trusting environment that supports nurses and midwives to adapt to and develop the required knowledge and skills to work confidently in their new role, culture and\/ or environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Preceptorship is defined as\u00a0additional support and guidance offered to nurses, midwives and SCPHNs during their transition or adaptation, to a new role. New registrants include newly qualified first level nurses and midwives; registered first level nurses and midwives new to the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) part of the NMC Register, and nurses from overseas and new to the United Kingdom.
