Insulin Safety for Acute Staff
For Registered Nurses, Doctors, Midwives and AHPs working in inpatient settings across Lothian.
The aim of this session is to support the development of confidence and competence in effectively and safely managing inpatients on insulin. This is a virtual course and will be delivered on MS Teams. Please note, access to MS Teams is required to participate.

Learning Outcomes
- Develop an understanding of what insulin is, how it works and why it is so important
- Recognise and differentiate between types of insulin, devices and methods of administration
- Learn about the various insulin regimen options and indications for use
- Understand the risks associated with insulin and how to avoid errors in both prescribing and administration
- Learn how to safely manage intravenous insulin infusions
