Case Study 1: Office-Based Role

Emma – Project Support Officer

image

Emma is on maternity leave and wants to feel more confident about returning to work in a few months. She arranges three KIT days with her manager.

KIT Day 1 – Team catch-up

Emma comes in for a half-day to join a team meeting, hear about changes to the project structure, and catch up with colleagues. She doesn’t take on any work — the aim is simply to reconnect and get updates.

KIT Day 2 – Training session

Emma attends a new software training course that launched while she was off. It’s run online, so she joins from home for two hours. This helps her feel up to speed when she returns.

KIT Day 3 – Gradual re-engagement

Emma spends a few hours reviewing key documents and planning a smooth return with her manager. They discuss flexible working options, priorities for her first month back, and any support she may need.

Outcomes:
Emma feels confident, included, and ready for her return. The KIT days helped reduce her anxiety and gave the team a chance to plan ahead.
