{"id":446,"date":"2022-11-06T00:41:04","date_gmt":"2022-11-06T00:41:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staff.nhslothian.scot\/pefchef\/?page_id=446"},"modified":"2023-06-13T15:30:32","modified_gmt":"2023-06-13T14:30:32","slug":"raising-concerns","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/staff.nhslothian.scot\/pefchef\/raising-concerns\/","title":{"rendered":"Support for Student Nurses and Midwives raising a concern in NHS Lothian"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>If you are a student nurse or midwife on placement within NHS Lothian and you need to raise a concern about patient safety, working conditions or wrongdoing you should first speak to your nominated practice supervisor or practice assessor, either informally or formally.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br><br>If this is not appropriate you also have the following options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Speak with another member of senior nursing or midwifery staff &nbsp;within your practice learning area<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contact a Speak Up Advocate by emailing:&nbsp;SpeakUP@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contact your university or college Course Advocate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have exhausted these options, you should follow the National Whistleblowing process.\u00a0 The new National Whistleblowing Standards for the NHS in Scotland came into effect on the 1 April 2021 and apply to anyone working to deliver NHS services.
