The Allied Health Professions Practice-based Education Leads (PELs) are in post to support staff from all AHPs.
This includes Art Psychotherapies, Diagnostic Radiography, Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Orthoptics, Paramedicine, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Prosthetics & Orthotics, Speech and Language Therapy and Therapeutic Radiography.
The overarching aim of the programme is to encourage a sustainable learning environment which supports AHP staff and student development.

Some of the work that we do includes:
- Working with the Lothian AHP Practice Based Learning Network to explore and develop solutions to the issues affecting provision of student placements including implementation of the Practice Placement Agreements (PPA).
- Working with staff to implement Lothian AHP Support and Supervision Guidance.
- Raising awareness of the range of resources and support available across the NMAHP Development Framework.
- Facilitating sharing of good practice between departments and disciplines.
- Contributing to national work streams that the PEL programme is developing across Scotland. To find out about some NES initiatives check out the AHP Learning Site
