Newly Qualified Practitioners (NQPs)

Supporting the education, learning and development needs of Newly Qualified AHPs is one of the many roles within NHS Lothian’s practice education team.  Please get in touch if you or a member of your team, started their first post within Lothian, in the last 18 months and wish to discuss support within this role.

  • Turas is an accessible platform developed by NHS Education for Scotland (NES) to support health and care professionals working in the public sector.
  • You can find a variety of resources within NES’s AHP Learning Site
  • Flying Start NHS (Flying Start NHS® | Turas | Learn) is the national development programme for all newly qualified nurses, midwives and allied health professionals, to be undertaken in the first year of practice. It’s designed to help support the transition from pre-registered student to qualified, confident and capable health professional. The programme supports learning and development for all newly qualified practitioners working in all sectors and settings across Scotland.  If you want to start your Flying Start NHS learning journey please get in touch.  You will need to create a Turas account
  • NMAHP Career Framework  is an overarching resource comprising of two linked components – The Healthcare Support Workers Learning Framework and the NMAHP Post-registration Development Framework.
