What’s been happening? 

  • The OT team at Edinburgh Napier University are working with TakeTen to offer a free workshop detailing the TakeTen programme’s use and implementation. This will take place on Monday 22nd May, 10am to 12 noon, at the Sighthill campus (with lunch included!). See here for more details (sign up closes 15th May)
  • The NHSL Youth Network are happy to offer two new courses for NHS Lothian colleagues:
    • 1. Youth Network Mentoring Programme 
    • 2. Youth Network Leadership Programme

  • The Digital Health and Care Innovation Centre (DHI) is thrilled to announce that 19.5 full-time equivalent Master’s Scholarships in digital health and care will be available for students starting their course in the 2023-24 academic year. Funded by the Scottish Funding Council (SFC), the scholarships are valued at £7,387 per place and will be awarded on a fee-waiver basis to eligible students. See more here.
  • We’re currently working on our next steps for our Lunch and Learn programme – in the meantime, access all recordings from past sessions on our internet page!

  • The Leading to Change team has announced that their Leading for the Future programme is now open for applications from senior managers from health, who are NHS Band 8a and above or the equivalent from social work, social care, third sector and partner organisations. See more information here, and access the application form here.
  • Queen Margaret University will be holding a film screening on campus as part of Demystifying Death week on 4th May – see here for more information.
  • Applications are now open for the Clinical Assessment and Decision Making (CADM) module (close – midday Wednesday 10th May 2023) – more info can be found here, the application form can be found here, and further details are included on HR online.
  • The AHP Practice Education team’s next lunch and learn session will be held on Thursday 13th April (next week); Jenna Rhodes and Louise Gill from QMU will be coming along to talk through their brilliant new resource – the Student Wellbeing Toolkit. What’s been happening? 

  • The new NHS Scotland AHP CYP Virtual Community of Practice is now available on MS Teams. This has been developed by a small group of CYP AHPs from across Scotland who were looking for a way to share best practice and improve collaboration. The team will allow a way for AHPs across Scotland who work with CYP to share practice, collaborate, ask questions, update with news, access learning resources and lots more!
  • NES are hosting a learning session with Coalition for Racial Equality and Rights (CRER) on anti-racism. The event will take place on Wednesday 29th March between 12 and 1pm.
  • Applications are now open to join the online, part time programme Health Professions Education (PG Cert/PG Dip/MSc). Staff can choose which qualification you would like to apply for, and The University of St Andrews offers a 10% discount to NHS-funded staff who wish to undertake the programme. Online information sessions are scheduled to take place on 29th March, 19th April and 14th June, which you can register to attend by completing this form.

  • NES are hosting a hybrid conference on 2nd March 2023 to appreciate, inspire and connect with AHPs across Scotland – see more information, including accommodation information, here.
  • 2 new NES resources for AHP Practice Educators supporting students are now available on TURAS
  • The NES HCSW team have released their December 2022 Newsletter
  • Our Newsletter was also released this week – have a look at it here and be sure to get in touch with any feedback!

What’s been happening? 

  • The NES AHP Team are looking for AHPs to work with them and the AHP Community in Scotland to explore how they work to meet learning needs of AHPs in Scotland. See more  here.
  • The HCPC consultation on preceptorship has now been launched and will close on 21st December 2022. There is the opportunity to respond as a registrant, patient or service user, or on behalf of an organisation or professional body. 
  • The AHP PrBL Virtual community will launch on Thursday 24th Nov – see  here for more information on what it is, and to sign up to the Launch Event!
  • New  part-time band 6 opportunities have been advertised for the Lothian Manual Handling Team
  • A CPD session will be hosted on 9th December on the role of the Designated Prescribing Practitioner – see  here for more info & to join.
