*Given the impact of Covid-19 on placement provision there is a focus on fulfilling BSc and MSc placements as per local policies and agreements. As a result, additional placements (such as elective placements) are to be provided at the discretion of the service/ team having considered their capacity to fulfil local needs.*
The undernoted flow chart has been developed by AHP Practice Education Leads with support from HR. The flow chart outlines the process to be followed by Practice Educators to support requests for Elective placements from UK based students. Please note that is currently being reviewed; for any queries, please contact the Practice Education Team.
Work experience placements and observational placements were put on hold during covid but we are hopeful these will return soon. Information about the new processes around arranging these will be made available here soon.
Please note these processes are to be followed in the receipt of additional placement requests from students.
The Scottish Higher Education Institutes (e.g. QMU, GCU, Edinburgh Napier, RGU, Strathclyde) will continue to organise the agreed BSc and MSc placements as per local policies. There is a service level agreement in place for these placements which ensures that the Higher Education Institute takes responsibility for PVG and Occupational Health Review, not the Practice Educator or NHS Lothian HR team.
