Resources to help you in your work
The Equality and Human Rights Team leads NHS Lothian’s work to embed equality and human rights into everything we do. We:
- Provide advice and assurance about compliance with our legal equality and human rights duties.
- Measure and report on the progress we’re making on equality and human rights.
- Support NHS Lothian staff and teams to achieve the priorities set out in NHS Lothian Equality and Human Rights Strategy.
- Lead and coordinate programmes of work to achieve greater equality and uphold human rights.
- Provide equality evidence, information, and resources.
- Provide access to a wide range of equality and human rights education.
Equality and Human Rights Education
These pages are a collection of videos, links and information about equality and human rights. They include stories about people’s experiences of discrimination and inequality, information about law and policy, and examples of best practice.
You can use all this information for your own learning and to start discussions about equality and human rights in your teams.
The information on these pages should help you:
- Understand and meet people’s different needs.
- Create safe and inclusive places for people who work with us and use our services.
- Increase the diversity of NHS Lothian staff, so we better represent the communities we serve.
People’s experiences of discrimination
Discrimination is when someone is treated worse than another person. Discriminating against someone because of something to do with their background or identity can be unlawful.
