‘Developing Professional Practice in Health and Social Care’
Scottish Credit Qualification Framework (SCQF) Level 7
20 week course, study days are once a week (150 hours) virtually via MS teams with Edinburgh College or NHSL.
Entry Criteria: candidates must have evidence of previous study at SCQF Level 6 (SVQ2 or National progression award).

Units of study
The award consists of three units:
- Communication and Inter-professional Working in care
- Principles of Professional Practice (PPP)
- Promoting Health and Wellbeing
Extra unit on Human Body:
- Pre course workbook
- Closed book assessment
- Human body project
Assessments
Principles of Professional Practice (PPP) delivered in the first 10 weeks by EC staff (2 assignments):
- Compare and contrast essay (2000)
- Case study person centred care (1000)
Communication and Inter-professional Working in care (2 assignments):
- Group PowerPoint presentation
- Individual essay on contribution to presentation using team working theorists (750 words)
Promoting Health and Wellbeing (2 academic assignments):
- Reflective Account on a significant event Using Gibbs reflective cycle (1000)
- Care Study assessment and care of an individual with acute presentation/ long-time condition (1500 words)
All assignments will evidence/ research based, and Harvard referenced
Staff participating in the course will be supervised/mentored in practice, work-based competences will be area specific and existing competences can be utilised.
