Induction NHS Lothian | Staff

Clinical – Registered Nurses (Adult Health / Mental Health / Learning Disability), Registered Midwives and ODPs

NHS Lothian RN/RM/ODP Clinical Induction is a collaborative programme for Registered Nurses (Adult Health, Mental Health, and Learning Disabilities), ODPs and Registered Midwives, in both primary and secondary care settings, who join NHS Lothian as new employees.

This interactive, engaging two-day programme aims to promote integration and a sense of belonging to the wider clinical NHS Lothian team. The programme is generic and covers a wide range of topics which have been requested and agreed by Clinical Service Leads and have relevance for newly registered practitioners and registered practitioners new to NHS Lothian. It provides participants with an introduction to relevant clinical elements, key issues, services, contacts, and resources. (A role-specific period of induction can be designed in the new RN/RM/ODP’s workplace to meet their individual needs for the role they will be undertaking.)

Facilitated by CET Clinical Educators, the programme content is presented by specialist practitioners based in Clinical Services and subject specialists within CET.

Both days are usually hosted face-to-face fortnightly in the Comely Bank Centre or Western General Hospital, and during the annual intake of newly qualified registered practitioners (NQRP) weekly in the Western General Hospital. On rare occasions, days may be delivered virtually through MS Teams.
