MMUD Maternity mandatory update day

Course aim

The aim of this course is to enable staff to update essential skills and knowledge for clinical midwifery practice, based on the Scottish Government mandatory recommendations.

The training includes; obstetric emergency updates, neonatal resuscitation updates and Fetal monitoring and wellbeing.

Bitesize sessions will be on varying subjects: for instance  MMBRACE Reports, Human Factors training, Supervisors & Assessors (NMC)

Target staff group

Registered Midwives working in NHS Lothian Women’s Services; hospital and community settings, with obstetric colleagues.

Learning outcomes

  • To provide the opportunity for Midwives and Obstetricians to undertake mandatory training in fetal heart monitoring and management of obstetric emergencies in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Midwives will also undertake an update in neonatal resuscitation.
