Occasionally SACT needs to be delivered via into the bladder by nurses in surgical recovery areas and so CET also offer a one-day course to enable this treatment to be given in a safe and controlled way.
This treatment is delivered by either theatre recovery staff, day surgery staff or urology ward staff members once they are competent in this skill.
To attend the course the practitioner must have first completed:
- Male catheterisation training and competencies.
The learning outcomes for the course are as follows.
By the end of the course, you will be able to discuss-
- Cell biology and the action of Cytotoxic chemotherapy
- Complications, side effects and toxicities
- Safe Handling and administration
- Practical administration session Staff are required to complete competencies in practice upon successful completion of the assessment.
