Citizens Advice Service (citizensadvice.org.uk/scotland/) – The Citizens Advice offers confidential advice online, over the phone, and in person, for free. They can also give advice on consumer rights via their consumer helpline, support witnesses in courts through the Witness Service and give pension guidance to people aged over 50.
Money Advice Scotland (moneyadvicescotland.org.uk/) – Money Advice Scotland is Scotland’s money charity. They offer help for people who are in debt as well as a range of information on financial wellbeing.
Money Matters has a wealth of knowledge and has adopted a holistic approach to dealing with advice issues. Their Welfare Rights service includes representation at Social Security and Disability appeal hearings. They are pro-active at providing in-work benefits advice such as Tax Credit, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit.

Money Saving Expert This website was set up by Martin Lewis, and provides advice about a number of financial matters. It focuses on how to get the best out of your money: shopping, utilities, banking, insurance. There is also a very helpful “income and family” tab with all kind of helpful resources.

Law Works provides free legal advice for people not eligible for legal aid and who cannot afford to pay for legal services. It includes information on how to find out if you are eligible for legal aid.
