Aim of the session
This session aims to deepen understanding of the roots of racism and how it operates today. It will support participants to recognise and challenge racism with confidence, and to play an active role in building an anti-racist organisation.
What participants will gain from the session
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Understand key terminology relating to Anti-Racism.
- Understand the historical context and systemic nature of racism and its various forms.
- Understand the ongoing impact of racism on individuals and communities.
- Recognise the impact of racism in health care.
- Learn about legal and ethical duties relating to racism.
- Reflect on the lived experiences of affected communities.
- Reflect on individual bias and the impact of being told one side of the story
- Identify simple, practical actions to support inclusive practice
- Provide information about further learning and resources
