
Human Rights and Children’s Rights

Aim of the session
To provide participants with an understanding of the foundations and principles of human rights law, policy and practice, followed by an in-depth exploration of children’s rights under the UNCRC and their application in healthcare settings.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Understand the principles and legal frameworks underpinning human rights and children’s rights.
- Apply the fundamental human rights principle of proportionality to their work.
- Appreciate the relevance of human rights and the UNCRC to healthcare and organisational practice.
- Identify the human rights and responsibilities that are relevant to individual practice.
- Apply a rights-based practice within everyday practice.
- Recognise and respond to potential human rights issues affecting children and families by building it into everyday practice.
- Apply human rights and children’s rights in everyday decision-making and service delivery.
