
Human Rights and Children’s Rights

Aim of the session
To provide participants with:
Day 1: an understanding of the foundations and principles of human rights law, policy and practice, followed by
Day 2: an in-depth exploration of children’s rights under the UNCRC and their application in healthcare settings.
Please note: This is a two-day course.
- You must attend Day 1 before you can attend Day 2. However, you do not have to attend Day 2 if you only want to attend Day 1.
- Everyone is welcome to attend Day 2, but priority will be given to people who work with children or who support staff working with children.
- The booking link below is for Day 1 only. If you would like to attend Day 2, we will add you automatically.
- There will also be other opportunities to attend sessions on children’s rights across the organisation.
What participants will gain from the sessions
By the end of the 2-day training course, participants will be able to:
Day 1:
- Understand the principles and legal frameworks underpinning human rights and children’s rights.
- Apply the fundamental human rights principle of proportionality to their work.
- Understand the relevance of human rights to healthcare and organisational practice.
- Identify the human rights and responsibilities that are relevant to individual practice.
- Apply a rights-based practice within everyday practice.
- Day 2:
- Understand the relevance of the UNCRC to healthcare and organisational practice.
- Recognise and respond to potential human rights issues affecting children and families by building it into everyday practice.
- Apply human rights and children’s rights in everyday decision-making and service delivery.
- Access resources for continued development and best practice.
