Getting Started
I haven’t received my induction instructions – what should I do?
If you’ve started your role but haven’t received your induction details:
If neither of you have received anything, please get in touch with the induction team. We’ll check your booking and send the appropriate information..
Contact your Line Manager first, as they receive the same email at the time of booking.
Where can I find general information and timetables?
Please look at all the other tabs on this Induction Internet Site for the most up to date information.
Computer space at CBC
There is no computer space available at Comely Bank. If you have issues with access to equipment to allow you to attend Corporate Induction, please reach out to your line manager so they can find you suitable space and equipment.
Clinical Induction & Training Sessions
Adult Nurse Induction
- Full-day sessions held at Western General Hospital (WGH) or Comely Bank Centre (CBC)
- Confirmation email sent automatically once booked

- For acute ward-based nurses
- Held on Fridays; details sent on Wednesday of induction week
- If not included, your Line Manager must book separately with eHealth

Setting Up Turas Learn
After your online induction session, if you need help accessing or navigating Turas Learn:

Compliance & Module Queries
If you have questions about which mandatory modules to complete or whether you’re compliant:
- Please speak to your Line Manager, who will guide you through the requirements.
- If you are a Staff Bank member, contact the Staff Bank team for support.
Turas Learn Login Details
Your Turas Learn login information will be emailed to you between 11:00–11:30am on the morning of your induction.
Please follow the instructions provided and refer to the Corporate Induction SOP for guidance.
Uniforms, ID Badges & Other Requirements
Uniforms
If your role requires a uniform, your Line Manager will advise on:
- What to wear during induction
- When and how to collect your uniform
- Any temporary arrangements if your uniform is not yet available
ID Badges
Your NHS Lothian ID badge will be arranged by your department. If you haven’t received information about this:
- Please speak to your Line Manager for guidance
- Some departments may issue badges during induction; others may do so separately
Other Role-Specific Requirements
Any additional requirements outside of core mandatory eLearning, such as vaccinations, access to clinical systems, or department-specific training, will be coordinated by your Line Manager or relevant team.
Changes & Communication
Rescheduling Your Induction
- If booked by the GR Team, they will manage changes
- If booked by the SB Team, they will coordinate rescheduling
- If booked by your Line Manager, they will handle updates
We’ll copy the relevant contact into our reply to support the process.
Reminder Emails
You’ll receive a reminder email on the Thursday before your induction. Please check your inbox and junk folder.
