Practice Assessor Preparation

When you are ready to prepare for the practice assessor role you should discuss this with your line manager in the first instance and complete the relevant steps detailed below

Access the NHS Lothian Practice Assessor Narrated Powerpoint  – once the powerpoint is open select slideshow then select from beginning: NHS Lothian Practice Assessor Narrated Powerpoint

You should then undertake the reflective self assessment for the role of practice assessor which can be found in the following document – you may have used this document already when undertaking Practice Supervisor Preparation: A Guide and Record for nurses, midwives and registered health and social care professionals preparing for the role of Practice Supervisor and Practice Assessor

  • Access learning resources appropriate to your learning needs
  • To support your preparation NES have 6 learning units available  that can be accessed using the following link NES Learning Units 1-6 (Scroll down to appropriate section) 

The learning units you access will depend on what learning needs are identified from your reflective self assessment

These units are now also available on TURAS learn– you will need to be logged into your account to access them

A Guide and Record for nurses, midwives and registered health and social care professionals preparing for the role of Practice Supervisor and Practice Assessor

  •  Discuss with your line manager that you have completed the practice assessor preparation, this should then be recorded on e- roster
  • Attend practice assessor interactive workshop (recommended) – We can now offer these earlier than anticipated these will run from week beginning the 23rd November 2020
